How much will the subsidized program cover?

The amount of hours each client qualifies for is individual to their needs. This is decided by the Alberta Health Services case worker. The Client Directed Home Care Program covers $32.15/hour for up to the allowed number of hours per month for each client.

If I feel that I could use more hours of care than what I was approved for, can I still get that care or am I out of luck?

If you feel that you need more care above the hours you were approved for, you can still have home care, it just means that any care provided above what you were approved for will be paid directly by you and not Blue Cross.

Do I have to pay up front and then be reimbursed?

We direct bill AB Blue Cross for the approved hourly amount of $32.15. for all the hours your case worker qualified you for.  Depending on the level of care you require, you may be billed the portion that Blue Cross does not cover, similar to how prescriptions work.

If I already have home care being provided by Alberta Health Services, can I switch home care companies to one of my choosing?

Yes. If you have another home care company you would rather have care for you, you have control over who provides your care. The great news is that TL Home Care is an approved provider of the Client Directed Home Care program.
